Buenos Aires native, Marcelo Fernández, graduated from the Alberto Ginastera Conservatory in Buenos Aires with a degree in composition. He studied under Eduardo Isaac and participated in master classes with Jorge Martínez Zárate, Miguel Ángel Girollet and Pablo Márquez. Since 1995 he has played in a duo called Duo Fernandez Russo, featuring himself and Russo Fernández. They play their own compositions and arrangements of Argentinian folk music and have had several concert tours and master classes in Argentina as well as some European countries. He now teaches at the Conservatorio Nacional Superior de Música in Argentina, dictating Harmony, Guitar, Camera Music and Counterpoint classes.
