Jose Carlos Cabrera is an accomplished Paraguayan classical guitarist. He won international competitions as a soloist as well as in chamber music. He recorded Piazzolla’s works for duo with Agustin Nazzetta in Buenos Aires in 2011. He served as assistant-conductor of the "Pu Rory" Guitar Ensemble, a project directed by Paraguayan virtuoso guitarist, Berta Rojas in 2017-2018. He currently integrates the Zelada-Cabrera Duo and the group MbarakaTrio which recorded a new album in 2021 of Latin American music. 
Cabrera graduated with honors from National University of the Arts (UNA) in Buenos Aires in 2012. He obtained his master's degree in Guitar Performance at the Pablo de Olavide University in Seville, Spain under the guidance of renowned professors Judicaël Perroy, Pablo Márquez, Zoran Dukic, Paolo Pegoraro, Francisco Bernier, and Lorenzo Micheli. Cabrera's success during this period led to the young artist being selected to record his first solo CD for Contrastes Records, a work titled Oracion and centered entirely on master-works by Paraguayan composer Agustin Barrios Mangore. Cabrera has taken his art, broad repertory, and passion for the works of Agustin Barrios Mangore to stages and festivals around the globe, including Argentina, Uruguay, USA, Canada, France, Portugal, Netherlands, and Spain. He also plays regularly as a soloist with orchestras. 
Today, Jose Carlos Cabrera heads the guitar and chamber music departments at the Superior Institute of Fine Arts in Asuncion and teaches guitar at the Agustin Barrios Conservatory in Asunción.
