Born in 1953 in the south-west of France, Gilbert Clamens studied harmony, composition and guitar at the C.N.R. de Toulouse, all the while pursuing his studies in architecture. After having obtained a 1st prize in guitar in 1976 at this same establishment, he perfected his art with the great names of classical guitar, such as Manuel Barrueco, Alexandre Lagoya, and Antonio Lauro. Clamens has won international guitar competitions in Italy, France, and Spain. His musical career is based on concerts, composition, and teaching. He has released several albums, and created a musical and choreographic show alongside José-Luis Narváez, ¡Con Fuego!. Clamens has distinguished himself in several international composition competitions and has his pieces played by prestigious ensembles all over Europe. His catalogue counts over 40 works for different formations (short-films, theatre, CD recordings, radios, concerts...) and are edited by Productions d’OZ in Quebec (www.productionsdoz.com), Bèrben (Ancona-Italy), and at Musique Sémaphore Diffusions in Lyon.
