Bernard Piris studied at the Conservatoire National de Marseille, where he obtained a Médaille d’Or de Guitare. He also followed the lessons of lutenist Anthony Bailes. Piris has been a guest of the most prestigious institutions as jury or in masterclasses, and he has given concerts through France and abroad in numerous festivals, and has played for FR3, France Musique, M6, RTBF Bruxelles, Radio-Canada, and more. In Saint Paul Trois Châteaux, he organizes the Bien-nales de Guitare en Tricastin. As a composer, he has gotten commissions for renowned soloists, ensembles and festivals. His works have been published by Lemoine editions, Combre, Transatlantiques in France, and Les Productions d’OZ in Quebec. He has also been the dedicatee of many contemporary works. His book "Fernando Sor, une guitare à l’orée du Romantisme" (Ed. Aubier/Flammarion) is a staple in the guitar world. He has recorded a CD, Récital de Guitare, dedicated to 20th century and South American music, and his own compositions have been recorded by various guitarists. Bernard Piris is teaching at the Conservatoire du Tricastin, in the region of Drôme (France).
